In this #GoodNewsFriday, we hear about a day of fun and activities from Spellman Care’s Springbank Care ¹ú²úÂÒÂ×, as they hosted a ‘School’s out for summer’ activity day for residents and local children.

Spellman Care’s Springbank Care ¹ú²úÂÒÂ× hosted two heartwarming "School’s Out for Summer" events, inviting local children to join their residents for a day of fun and friendship.

The events featured a variety of activities. Residents and children worked together to create arts and crafts, enjoyed games together and even made some delicious homemade treats. The atmosphere was filled with laughter and joy as residents and children bonded and enjoyed their day.

Intergenerational events are proven to have a positive impact on both residents and children. For residents, the interactions can provide a sense of purpose, reduce feelings of isolation, and improve mental and physical health. Children, in turn, can develop valuable social skills, empathy, and a greater understanding of the aging population.

Lisa Pickles, ¹ú²úÂÒÂ× Manager at Springbank Care ¹ú²úÂÒÂ×, said:

We are incredibly pleased to have hosted such delightful events at Springbank. Intergenerational activities like these have benefits all around for both residents and children. Residents feel a sense of purpose and fulfilment from interacting with the younger generation, while the children have had the opportunity to learn valuable life lessons and develop empathy. It's a win-win situation that brings joy and enrichment to our community.

The Springbank team said:

Thank you to all the children who joined us at these recent sessions," said Springbank Care ¹ú²úÂÒÂ×. "We hope you enjoyed them as much as our residents have!
