Throughout October, we’re running our ‘Making a difference with data’ campaign to raise awareness of the critical nature of data to our sector, the Adult Social Care Workforce Data Set (ASC-WDS) and promote the launch of our annual ‘State of the adult social care sector and workforce in England’ report.
Our ‘Making a difference with data’ campaign will focus on the vital nature of data to our sector, why it’s important to maintain high quality data gathering and how employers can contribute their data by using tools such as the .
ASC-WDS is the most complete and extensive source of data about the adult social care sector workforce in England, with data being submitted by the 20,000+ adult social care employers. The data collected and is used by the Government and other key stakeholders to make important decisions that shape the future for our sector.
The service also allows employers to safely store their staff records to support with activities such as workforce planning, recruitment, and training, as well as to benchmark their organisation against other similar organisations for key workforce metrics.
We’ll be sharing resources, case studies and insight on how employers are using ASC-WDS to benefit their organisation, how they can ensure they’re submitting and maintaining high quality, complete data and how this data is used to make better decisions for our sector.

¹ú²úÂÒÂ×’s latest flagship report into adult social care includes a comprehensive analysis of the latest data and workforce trends. This years’ report shows that the adult social care sector grew to its largest size on record. At the same time the vacancy and turnover rates have fallen again but remain high compared to other sectors.

The Adult Social Care Workforce Data Set (ASC-WDS) is a free online data collection service that covers the adult social care workforce in England. It has many benefits, including helping you to meet requirements for access to funding for training and exclusive discounts and offers. It can also be used as an easy place to store staff records and benchmark your service against others on metrics including pay and staff turnover.

Support for local authorities with local ASC-WDS registration
It's vital that as many adult social care employers as possible are registered with ASC-WDS within each local authority area in England. This means that we can produce more accurate and reliable insights about the sector at a local level. Local authorities are then equipped with more accurate and complete data to use as part of their workforce planning and shaping responsibilities.
