COVID-19 has resulted in the workforce having to adapt the ways they care for people and some of these changes have been challenging for different groups of people.
Wearing face coverings, sanitising hands and maintaining social distancing has now become a normal way of working.
We've developed a range of resources in partnership with East Sussex County Council (ESCC), to support people with learning disabilities and autistic people with COVID-19 challenges.
This guide aims to help the workforce adapt their behaviour to support people they’re caring for to adapt to COVID-19 challenges so they can safely continue to socialise and get involved with activities.
These resources cover a range of topics from COVID-19, communication, face coverings, handwashing and other PPE topics. They include easy read documents, videos, social stories and webinars.
Designed by ESCC adult social care training team, this sample training session can be used in services that support people with a learning disability and autistic people, and by family carers and personal assistants. You can deliver it as a training session or print and use them as an information pack and activities along with the guide.
