ࡱ> ?B>[ xbjbj  .pa!\pa!\x x54444444$f7:5525aaa 4a4aaR24@J34H50x5 4::<4:4(a55ax5:> R: West Midland Social Work Development Group Terms of Reference Aims and objectives The overarching purpose of the West Midlands social work development group is to contribute to raising the professional standards of social work at both qualifying and post qualifying level in order to achieve improved outcomes for individuals who use social work services and their carers. In order to achieve this overarching purpose the West Midlands social work development group will aim to: Foster a spirit and culture of partnership between employers and Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) across the West Midlands region. Encourage inclusive membership reflecting representation from childrens and adults statutory organisations, child and adult private and voluntary organisations and higher education providers. Provide a forum for inclusive learning, information exchange and the sharing of new practices and approaches. Facilitate consistent approaches and good practice to the development and reform of social work programmes. Connect with other regional networks. Membership The meeting will be facilitated through , for administrative purposes, but directed through the membership group. Delegates will be invited on the basis of one from each local authority employer in the region (except where child and adult services are separate in which case each directorate may have one delegate), one from each university, one from each private, voluntary or independent organisation, and the regional representative and where possible an appropriate person from the Department for Education to represent child services. - 2 - Chairing Chairing responsibilities to be shared through the election of two chairs to include one employer and one university representative elected on an annual basis. The role of the co-chairs will be: To chair the West Midlands social work development group To contribute to the planning and agenda setting for the meeting To finalise and agree minutes To establish the collective needs of the area and the agenda is driven by the members To feedback key messages from the forum to bulletins Frequency of Meetings The West Midlands social work development group will meet three times per year, together with regular consultation and liaison with Midlands. Quorum No quorum is required for meetings to go ahead but any decision making that is representative of the views of the group should involve a minimum of four delegates, one of which must be one of the co-chairs.
